Life Lessons from My Mentee Erica on Career, Confidence, & Clarity
Are you burnout and overwhelmed, feeling stuck in a career that is no longer serving you? 😫
Are you frustrated with being overworked and underpaid?🚫💲
Are you applying to job after job, even though it isn’t the job you have always dreamed about? 👩🏾💻
That is exactly where my mentee, Erica, was before joining Mentor Me. She had worked hard in hopes to secure the salary goal that she had set for herself. But she felt stuck in the background, like many other women, and felt as though she couldn’t shine in her role. ✨
After joining Mentor Me, Erica found out that, “I am worthy enough and I deserve to be treated respectfully and be compensated well.” So, she took what she learned from Mentor Me and applied it to her job search, and landed an offer for more than she was making in her current role.
But, Erica also learned to stick to her core values and decided to turn down the job. Say what???🤯
Yep, she turned it down because the company wasn’t where she wanted to be. In total honesty, she loved the company she worked for, but she needed to have more room to grow and be challenged.
With the skills she learned in Mentor Me, Erica arranged to meet with her supervisor, something she would have NEVER done before. She was in the background, right? 🙈
Well, that meeting led to clarity she had never had, an open conversation about expectations, and finally found the light she had felt was missing. 💡
In Erica’s own words, “So as a result of having this conversation and using the strategies I learned in the mentorship program, I was able to still have the values that was more important to me and receive a salary increase.”
I see you feeling stuck, confused and how not feeling fulfilled in your career is impacting your mental health.
I see that and still, I haven’t given up on you.
I hope you haven’t given up either. 🤞🏾
