Life Lessons in 3 Lies That Keep You Stuck in Your Career
I just got to put myself out there more. You know, there aren't any good jobs out there. I think I'll just wait till next month. These are all lies that keep you stuck in your career. But the good news is I'm here to help you get out of the circle of lies and actually learn how to advance your career in a meaningful way.
One of my favorite Southern sayings and personal affirmations is, ‘tell yourself the truth.’ Telling myself the truth has helped me avoid lying to and gaslighting myself, thinking it may advance my career in meaningful ways. But the problem is, so many of us lie to ourselves — week after week, each month, every year — that our careers never advance because we’re constantly in a self-sabotaging cycle.
These are the three most common lies I hear from high-achieving professionals stalled in their careers.
Lie #1: I just need to put myself out there more. Despite immense skill, knowledge, talent, and expertise, you think the key to career advancement is being an extrovert. You don’t have to be somebody you’re not, putting yourself in spaces that don’t compliment your talents.
Lie #2: There aren't any good jobs out there. Regardless of what's going on in the economy or the job market, this lie knows no bounds. With a proven career strategy, you can uncover positive career paths you weren’t even aware of.
Lie #3: I'll try again next month. This constant procrastination on investing in your career development, getting help from a mentor, or hiring a career coach, gets you closer to nothing but dissatisfaction. You can’t afford to waste more time when you could be more fulfilled and better established in a career that suits you.
Get proven support in your career. Let me call you into the truth. If you want to move out of these lies, I'm excited to serve you.
