Life Lessons in Knowing Its Time to Go
You ever just felt the itch to move on? To break away from what you know and dive into the unknown, and do the real work it takes to move from where you are to where you want to be?
Some people will never get where they want to go because they aren’t willing to do the work to get there. Just like I may never be 140 lbs again because I’m not willing to give up carbohydrates. When you're feeling stuck in your career, ask yourself these questions. They will help you know when to go.
Of my recent accomplishments, which will impact my career? Which will not? In what ways do I need to pivot to ensure that I reach my overall goals by the year's end?
What was my impact on my organization and the people we serve? How can I measure my impact? How can I leverage it to demonstrate the transformative power of my work?
Over the last six months, does the work I do daily reflect my personal priorities and values?
Am I being appropriately compensated for my value to the organization? If not, do I know how to effectively advocate for a salary increase or am I prepared to transition to a role where I can be compensated appropriately?
Could I serve my life and work better by transitioning away from my current role? In what ways am I actually exploring those opportunities?
