Life Lessons in How to Know When You’re Being Underpaid
You're probably being underpaid, aren't you? There is a chance you are displaying the classic signs and may not have realized it so we're going to talk about those signals and make a plan for you to get out of the cycle of being overworked and underpaid.
As your organization has shifted processes and experienced transitions in staffing, you've begun to take on other people's responsibilities. This gets to the core of resentment because you think, “I'm doing more than what I'm being paid. The services I’m providing are not being valued or represented in my title. This has become more than my scope of work.”
Your discontentment or disassociation is causing you to feel combative and angry but you don't even know why. It's very common that you're experiencing anger and frustration out of nowhere when you aren’t being provided the recognition and compensation you deserve. Suddenly you just feel hostile about everything and, too often, this may flow over into your personal life.
As an experienced employee, you’ve grown as a professional and may no longer fit into your current role. Over the course of time in your current position and the industry, you've picked up valuable skills — maybe additional certifications, committee memberships, or special project involvement. Through that meaningful work, you've developed professionally and some of you, quite frankly, have outgrown your current role.
If this sounds like your situation, let's schedule a call so that we can talk about exactly how much you're being underpaid and develop a plan to help you get more money. With inflation rising along with interest rates, you literally cannot afford to make so little money. So it's time to make a transition and I'm excited to help you do that.
