Life Lessons in What 80’s Babies Need to Know to Advance Our Careers

The world of career development, the world of work, the world of what it means to make more money and have more impact in our careers—this changes over time.

It changes over the decades.

The way that we look at and think about work in considering what's important to us—that is different from the ways people born in the sixties, the seventies and even people who were born in the nineties and the 2000s consider what's important to them.

I want to speak directly to those who are in that in-between stage right now.

You have gone to school, earned the degree (maybe the Master’s), and have 5-10 years of working experience, but you are ready for that next step in your career.

You’re wanting to move into those director-level or VP roles. You are ready to take on those managing director roles. You are at the point where you are ready to be making six figures.

Maybe you are ready to buy a new house, maybe you need to help take care of your parents, maybe you are taking care of children (yours, nieces/nephews, friends), or maybe you just want to move up to that next level of income.

Whatever your reason (and they are ALL valid reasons), we can often feel stuck in our careers. And, for better or worse, career advice from 30 years ago isn’t relevant in today’s workplace. You can’t just put your head down, do the work, and see the same results that our grandparents or parents saw.

Eighties babies may be the most highly educated generation of our time.

80’s babies have more degrees, more credentials, more certifications, more training than decades before. So my question is how can we leverage all of this education and knowledge to actually have a greater impact in industry and use those degrees, certifications, and trainings to see a minimum of a $25,000 salary increase over the next two months?

And that's what my role is as a mentor. My job is to help high-achieving, professional women make more money and have more impact using the skills, the knowledge, the talent, and the expertise that they already have.

So eighties babies, I'm here to tell you that we can no longer follow the strategies of the folks born in the sixties and the seventies, to stay loyal to these companies and say, “Well, I'm just going to wait on my boss to promote me,” and wait on a raise.

We got bills, we got kids, and we got mortgages. We got stuff to do. We don't have time to be sitting around waiting on someone to put us on. We need a career development strategy that actually is going to yield results.

This is exactly what Mentor Me does for our mentees.

Together, we're going to work through everything that you've done in your life and in your career up to this point, and we're going to leverage all of that to help you secure a minimum of a $25,000 salary increase.

So, 80’s babies, don’t wait! Join the Mentor Me Accelerator program today.
